Cloud Computing

Cloud computing is a complete paradigm shift in corporate IT, moving it off-site and into the realm of service provision. Much of that service is provided through virtual machines—a technology which provides substantial savings in resources and energy. There are several issues that must be addressed, however, in order for virtual machines to deliver the efficiency and service required by cloud computing.

Data in logical disks automatically gets broken into pieces by the operating system, causing I/O bottlenecks that result in slowed performance. At the Windows operating system level, since data is saved in an un-optimized state from the beginning, extra I/Os are required both for reading and writing data—regardless of underlying hardware.

Because virtual environments by their nature share resources, the creation of unnecessary I/O is compounded, causing performance issues, resource conflicts, application performance degradation and wasted disk space. As more VMs are added, this situation is further compounded and performance is slowed even more significantly. Virtual disks, when they are set to dynamically grow, do not shrink when data is deleted or removed by users. This factor results in physical disk space that is not re-allocated to other virtual systems. Backup and migration times are also needlessly increased.

DymaxIO® uniquely addresses the unnecessary I/O patterns of reads and writes by aggregating data on writes to perform sequentially while caching reads on available server memory without contention to the application. As a result, DymaxIO boosts application performance by 50% or more by (1) maximizing the efficiency of every single I/O from write requests that leave the server and (2) caching the most active data from read requests using available server memory.

How Are VMs for the Cloud Optimized?

DymaxIO is an absolute must for virtual machines in cloud computing—designed exclusively for virtual machine acceleration. DymaxIO fast data software increases VM performance by 50% or more without the cost of new or additional storage hardware.

Through proprietary IntelliWrite® technology, unneccessary I/Os are prevented. This technology stops the operating system from breaking files into pieces and writing those pieces in a performance-robbing manner. Unnecessary I/Os are eliminated, resulting in faster VM I/O throughput, and the ability to add VMs without a resulting drop in performance. IntelliMemory® caching technology increases I/O response time by caching frequently-accessed data in RAM cache. Together, these two technologies effectively increase application performance, accelerate access to file data, reduce I/Os to the disk, increase VM density, increase VM platform reliability, lower operating costs and increase hardware life.

“Condusiv’s software immediately went to work after installing it on our guest systems. Without touching the product, file access times and boot processes were improved within 24 hours and the changes were noticeable to our users.”
– Ken Linger, Senior VP of Technology Synergy Solutions, Inc.

You may create an online account and download a 30-day evaluation of DymaxIO. For best results, install DymaxIO on ALL VMs on a single host. For evaluation on 10+ systems/VMs, we recommend you contact sales to speak with a Solution Specialist to get set up with the management console for faster deployment.

What People are Saying

“Typically, IT professionals respond to application performance issues by reactively buying more hardware. Without the luxury of a padded budget, we needed to find a way to improve performance on the hardware infrastructure we already have. It saved us from having to make a heavy investment in SSDs or do a complete rip and replace of our entire hardware infrastructure. To this day, I still can’t believe software is doing this.”
R. Ortiz, IT Manager, ASL Marketing

“I have used Diskeeper since it was first introduced. It has always worked well in keeping my drive defragged for the fastest response times for all of my apps. Thank you again for this fine piece of software.”
Philip Baldwin, NVQB

“The Undelete software that we use on all our Regional Servers is undoubtedly worth every penny. It
has saved our Techs numerous hours in restoring files inadvertently deleted as opposed to having to
restore from backup tape.”
Michael Lucas, Gancom (Division of Gannet Fleming)

“Undelete saves backup restores when someone accidentally deletes a file from a Windows share. We store tapes off site so Undelete can save a big delay for file restores of that type. Undelete does what it says on the box – really – and it works nicely as a network recycle bin.”
Glenn Edwards, Infrastructure Analyst, Itron

“I have been using Diskeeper for many years, it is installed as a routine on all servers, networked clients, SHO and any other computer. It has never presented any problem and has always demonstrated improved drive performance in both servers and clients. With each new release Condusiv does not merely provide “window dressing”, they actually improve the product with the objective of making it easier to use, more reliable, more effective and easier to use.”
