How Are Hyper-V Platforms Optimized?
The only solution for complete optimization of Hyper-V platform performance is the "V-locity® VM accelerator – designed exclusively for virtual platform optimization. IntelliWrite® technology automatically prevents the operating system from breaking files into pieces and writing those pieces in a performance penalized manner. This proactive approach improves performance up to 50% while preventing any impact to advanced storage features like snapshots replication, data deduplication or thin provisioning growth. Unnecessary I/Os are eliminated, resulting in faster I/O throughput, and the ability to add VMs without a resulting drop in performance. With the inclusion of IntelliMemory™ caching technology, V-locity 4 also uses RAM cache to greatly improve file reads performance, while lowering the number of drive I/Os created. Wasted unused disk space can now be reclaimed quickly and easily. The Space Reclamation Engine within V-locity 4 can now use advanced storage thin provisioning commands (i.e. SCSI UNMAP), to reclaim allocated-but-unused thin provisioned free space. The ability to stay thin using the thin reclamation functionality will provide administrators with an easy and automated method for maximizing storage capacity utilization by reclaiming fine-grained physical storage blocks that are no longer being used by the file system.
