I recently got Diskeeper 2011, and am generally satisfied. there is one problem however. I am aware that the graphical drive map is disabled when running on larger volumes in order to improve performance. quite frankly however, I do not care. I would much prefer a longer defrag with a the drive map enabled than a shorter one without it. so i am curious, is there any way to force diskeeper to display the graphic drive map, regardless of volume size?

Hello,

There is no way for Diskeeper Pro Premier to display a graphical display during the actual defragmentation of a drive that is using the Terabyte Volume Engine or the Titan Defrag Engine.

You can enable Diskeeper to display “before and after” volume maps when manually defragmenting volumes with the Terabyte Volume Engine or the Titan Defrag Engine.

  • Click Diskeeper Configuration Properties in the Diskeeper toolbar

  • Then select the Display Behaviors.

  • Click on the check box next to Display “before and after” volume maps when manually defragmenting very large volumes

  • Click on Ok button.

Keep in mind that Diskeeper is a working-man's defragmenter. It is meant to do the majority of all Defragmentation jobs in Automatic Defragmenation mode. Most IT professionals do not have the luxury of sitting around to watch a multi-Terabyte volume defragment.

well, thanks anyway. I've actually been using Diskeeper for...well, as long as I can remember. I apologize for my tone in the original post, I had just spent the last fifteen minutes or so trying to find any reference to the question I had. I'm the sort of person who prefers figuring things out on my own rather than ask for help, so I was just a bit frustrated

My PC uses two (non-arrayed) 500GB disks, which I prefer to defragment manually. as each disk serves a specific purpose, it is much easier for me to defragment one while I am primarily using the other. I typically kick off a defrag, then go work on something else while it runs. when I check on it periodically, I generally find it much easier to quickly approximate the progress from a graphical map, hence my reason for asking. I guess I didn't think my drives were large enough to disable it...
