Diskeeper Support Forum Rules and Guidelines

  • Diskeeper Support Forum is about people and helping them resolve issues. Members are here to help and get help. If you keep this in mind in your posting, then everyone wins.
  • Use the Search feature FIRST. Chances are the question you have has been answered already. There is no need to have multiple instances of the same question in the forum. It only makes it harder to find an answer if it is posed many times.
  • Only one account per person is permitted.
  • A valid email address has to be used when registering. Email addresses that are disposable are not permitted. If found, we will remove the account in question.
  • Do not pretend to be/represent somebody else. Your account will be deleted if you are found to be in violation of this rule.
  • Illegal activities have no place on this site. Posting of such activities or telling others how to do so is not permitted. Our server is hosted in the USA and so is subject to US law. Please do not expose us to any unnecessary legal liability.
  • Do not propose/link to any site that contains warez/copyrighted software/materials that can be downloaded illegally.
  • If you use the words of someone else, quote them, citing the source. Plagiarism is not permitted on this site and is illegal in many countries.
  • Keep all posts on-topic.
  • Make sure you have read the original post completely before posting a reply
  • Post your comment/question to the most appropriate place. If your post appears to be in the wrong forum, it will be moved.
  • Choose an appropriate subject line. Summarize the problem briefly in the subject and put more detail in the message itself.
  • Do not use all caps just to get attention. An example of a poor subject would be "HELP ME". A good subject might be, "Feature X crashes when I start it".
  • Do not use a URL as a thread title. This means nothing to most people and most members will just pass it by.
  • Include as much information as you can when seeking help. This may include logs and command line output. Nobody will be able to help you if you don't give sufficient detail. Example of what not to say. “Everything is broke” or “Install?”.
  • When asking a question, take time to figure out what exactly you want to find out or need an answer then write it down. Then make sure that it is complete. This will help you to get answers.
  • If someone helps you, thank them. Members who answer your questions do so out of the goodness of their heart are not paid for doing so. Acknowledging them is appropriate and goes a long way toward their continuing to help. If you have been helped on this forum, you are invited to help other users by responding to their questions when you know the answer.
  • Many members, by the very nature of this site are newbies. Newbies, by definition, will make mistakes in postings, ask “silly” questions or have difficulties in explaining and do other things that will irritate those who are knowledgeable. Please be patient with them and help them to learn. High Priest of Tech need not join.
  • Do not post useless posts. This includes: Thread bumping, useless one liners, Flaming, Trolling or Spamming. This includes posting “Me TOO” type of responses. These tend to clog up the forum and make it more difficult to find the answer.
  • No commercial advertising is permitted. We will delete these. If a specific product or service has a direct relationship to the solving of a posting, by all means mention it, but please do not make this into a full blown advertisement.
  • When recommending a specific product or service to help a user solve their issue, you must disclose any relationship you may have with the company or group that owns that specific product. This includes, but is not limited to: any paid relationships past or present, receiving any promotional products or services, or any other similar relationship.
  • Any posts deemed to be self-promotion, advertising, or spam can and will be removed. NO SPAM - NO ADVERTISING.
  • Think before you post. This site is for the purpose of software support. Do not link to any site that contains adult content, or any material that might be considered offensive. There are plenty of sites where these types of post are welcome. This is not one of those sites. Any post containing an inappropriate link will be deleted and the poster will receive a warning.
  • You cannot send PM's until you reach five forum posts.
  • DO NOT SEND SUPPORT REQUESTS VIA PM, unless expressly invited to do so. Using PM to actively solicit work is not allowed. Post, in accord with the rules in the correct forum. Abuse of the PM system in this way can lead to your membership being removed.
  • No affiliate links to be posted, anywhere on our forum. Perhaps at some time we will sell advertising space and you can buy an ad at that time.
  • Please do NOT request support via the Private Messaging System. Post your topic in the forums instead. These forums are provided as means to allow other members and users of Diskeeper products to ask or answer questions and lend assistance to other users. Paid users of Diskeeper products may also use the Customer Support Center for one-on-one assistance from our Support Team.

  • Keep all commentary civil, and be courteous at all times. Constructive criticism is welcome, but insults directed towards other users or the site admins will not be tolerated. Coarse/insulting language will not be tolerated.
  • If you feel a post violates any of these rules, please use the ‘report this post’ link to notify the moderators.
  • These forums are centered on Diskeeper software and related computer matters. They are not a place to promote ideological, religious, social or political matters. All such discussions will be deleted/closed.
  • Never post your personal information.

    Avatars:
  • Must be no larger than 80 x100.
  • Must belong to you. Do not use copyrighted material that you do not own or have approval to use.
  • Must not contain adult material. (I’m sure we do not need to spell this out.)
  • Must not contain any offensive content. You will have to use your own judgment on this. But if we deem it to be offensive, we will notify you to change it.
  • Do not spoof or post misleading text in your avatar, or it will be removed.

We reserve the right to ask you to change and/or remove your signature or avatar at any time, for any reason.

Failure to abide by these rules may result in an editing, negative moderation or deletion of your post. We reserve the right to ban abusers from the site (temporarily or permanently). We reserve the right to change these rules at any time.
